The Polding rugby union selection trials were held at Forbes on a cold Monday, 1st July . Lismore Diocese had 19 students attend these trials. Lismore team managers reported that all Lismore Diocesan representatives played very good rugby union throughout the trials, and they were a pleasure to work with at Forbes. Lismore had four boys make the Possibles and Probables, and three were selected for the Polding team. Congratulations to all 19 students from Lismore Diocese for your enthusiasm, talent, skill and effort at the trials.Lismore as a team were undefeated during the day.
The following three students were selected for the Polding team to attend the NSWPSSA State Rugby Union Carnival at Wagga Wagga from the 20 to 22 August.

The Lismore Diocesan Gala Rugby Union Gala Day was held on 12 June at Coffs Stadium ( Leisure Park 1 and 2 ). There were a large number of school teams who attended the Gala Day this year. (Holy Family Skennars Head, St Carthage's Lismore, St Augustine's, Coffs Harbour, Mary Help of Christian's, Sawtell, St Joseph's Kempsey, St Peter's, Pt Macquarie, St Agnes' Pt Macquarie (2 teams).There were 3 new schools this year with St James, Yamba, with a combined team from St Patrick's Macksville and St Mary's Bowraville ). What a great day of rugby with fantastic skills displayed by the students. There were some very close games with all schools playing each other throughout the day.
The Lismore Diocesan Rugby Union trials were held on Friday, 17th March, at Hay Street rugby fields in South Grafton. A very successful day this year saw a team representing each zone for the second time. Altogether there were 60 students in attendance at this year’s diocesan trials.

In the end, there were 20 students selected to represent Lismore Diocese at the Polding trials at Forbes on Monday, 1st July. The Lismore managers for 2024 are Ern Sandral (St Joseph’s Primary School, Woodburn) and Peter Tonkin (St Mary’s Primary School, Grafton).

Lismore team managers reported that all Lismore Diocesan representatives played very good rugby union throughout the trials, and they were a pleasure to work with at Forbes. Lismore had six boys make the Possibles and Probables, and four were selected for the Polding team. A terrific day of rugby union was held at Coffs Harbour Stadium Grounds. This year saw ten teams from throughout the Lismore Diocese attend this event. There was some wonderful rugby played throughout the day. St Joseph’s Primary School, Kempsey, won the final (7 to 0) against Holy Family Catholic Primary School, Skennars Head, in a very close game.
