Blue Awards
The prestigious annual Blue Awards involves the presentation of awards and recognition of the top students in all sports from NSW Catholic Secondary Schools and Colleges.
The two highest achieving boys and girls from each sport are judged by the NSWCCC Blues committee taking into account their achievements for the year which often involves NSWCCC, NSW All Schools and Australian representation.
BLUE AWARDS 2020
The New South Wales Combined Catholic Colleges Sports Association’s 23rd Blue Awards were held at St Mary Star of the Sea College in Wollongong on Monday 3rd February.
These awards recognise the excellence of secondary students in sport. In 2019, 179 students from Catholic secondary colleges gained selection in NSW All Schools teams and 34 gaining selection in Australian teams.
- Imogen Evans (Mt St Patrick College, Murwillumbah ) received a Blue Award for outstanding achievements in Australian Football.
- Nathan Graham (Newman Senior Technical College, Port Macquarie) was presented with a Blue Award for outstanding achievements in athletics in 2019.
- Jack Cooper (St John’s College, Woodlawn) was also presented with a Blue Award for his achievements in cricket in 2019.
Imogen Evans was presented with a Blue Award for Australian Football. Imogen has captained the NSW All Schools team for the second year. She was named in the Australian team.

The New South Wales Combined Catholic Colleges Sports Association’s 22nd Blue Awards were held at St Mary Star of the Sea College in Wollongong on Monday 11th February.
These awards recognise the excellence of secondary students in sport. In 2018, over 163 students from Catholic secondary colleges gained selection in NSW All Schools teams and over 36 gaining selection in Australian teams.
Congratulations to Ella Heeney (MacKillop College, Port Macquarie) who was presented the Vince Villa Award for the most outstanding Catholic Secondary School Sportsperson – female of the year. Ella, also received a Bar Award for her outstanding achievements in cross country in 2018.
- Oliver Smyth (St John Paul College, Coffs Harbour) received a Blue Award for outstanding achievements in rugby union.
- Annika Toohey (MacKillop College, Port Macquarie) was presented with a Blue Award for outstanding achievements in hockey in 2018.
- Julia Williams ( MacKillop College, Port Macquarie) was also presented with a Blue Award for her achievements in diving in 2018.
Service Award 2018
Presentation Mr Lionel Conroy (St John Paul College, Coffs Harbour) was presented with a Service Award for his involvement in NSWCCC since 1989. Lionel has made significant contributions in initially basketball but it is in the sport of golf that Lionel has made a significant contribution to the school sport pathway. Congratulations Lionel for your many years of dedication to school sport at many levels.

The New South Wales Combined Catholic Colleges Sports Association’s 21st Blue Awards were held at St Paul’s Catholic College, Manly on Monday 12th February.
These awards recognise the excellence of secondary students in sport.
In 2017 over 200 students from Catholic secondary students gained selection in NSW All Schools teams and over 40 gained selection in Australian teams.
Ella Heeney from MacKillop Catholic College, Port Macquarie received a Blue Award for outstanding achievements in Cross Counrty in 2017.
Jack Orr, Mt St Patrick’s Catholic College, Murwillumbah received a Blue Award for his achievements in Triathlon in 2017.
Congratulations to both students on your on your Blue Award and your sporting achievements in 2017.

The New South Wales Combined Catholic Colleges Sports Association 20th Blue Award Presentation was held at St Paul’s Catholic College, Manly on Monday 6th February 2017.
These awards recognise the excellence of secondary students in sports.
In 2016 over 180 students from Catholic secondary schools gained selection in NSW All Schools teams and over 28 gained selection in Australian teams.
Tom Berryman from Mackillop Catholic College in Port Macquarie received a Blue Award for outstanding achievements in swimming in 2016.
Kate Wilson, Mt St Patrick’s Catholic College, Murwillumbah and Paige Leonhardt from St Joseph’s Regional College, Port Macquarie who both represented Australia in swimming at the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games were recognised for their outstanding achievements in sport in 2016.

The New South Wales Combined Catholic Colleges Sports Association 19th Blue Award Presentation was held at St Patrick’s College, Sutherland on Monday 8th February. These awards recognise the excellence of secondary students in sport. 2015 saw over 140 students from Catholic secondary schools gaining selection in NSW All schools and over 20 going selection in Australian teams.
The following four students from Lismore Diocese received the Blues Award for outstanding achievements in their chosen sport in 2015; Maximillian Dostine (St John’s College, Woodlawn) for Water Polo, Courtney Linton (St John’s College, Woodlawn) for Athletics, Daniel Boardman (Xavier Catholic College, Skennars Head) for Rugby Union, Samuel Lewis (MacKillop College, Port Macquarie) for Triathalon and Jackson Jubelin (MacKillop College, Port Macquarie) for Golf.
